LUST ITEM: I’m Going Bonkers For This Incredible Fall Boot !!!

Be still my beating heart…I found my dream shoe for LIFE, and it isn’t a Wang, a Miu Miu, or a Zanotti. In fact, it’s brand-new London footwear brand Mark Charles, and this Afina boot with criss-crossed straps, a contrast sole, and the most interesting (and flattering!) toe and heel shape I’ve seen recently.

Their awesomeness comes with an awe-inspiring price as well—these strapped boots will set you back $1,148. But, if you’ve got the spare change and a growing interest, you should probably just do it; These boots are made in a limited run, and only 500 are available. The shoes also come with two spare heels, a horsehair wax brush, wax cream, gloves, and a cloth for buffing…which means you know they know the shoes will last you a helluva long time.

The 5 Best Handbags Under $100

You can save and save (and save) for months on end, to put aside enough cash for a dreamy handbag with that infamous, to-die-for label. But, let’s face it, you need something that looks phenomenal now, while still paying your rent. And there’s definitely no reason to shackle yourself to debt just to score a carryall that looks luxe, and maybe gets stopped on the street every once in a while, for a compliment. That’s why we’ve narrowed down the options to five (under-$100) bags that fit the bill in every sense of the term. Pick your favorite for fall, and save the change for your piggy bank.

I was invited to nOir Jewelry‘s showroom to check out their new collections. I was walked through all the new designs and immediately was attracted to the nOir Jewelry for L.A.M.B. collection which debuted in Gwen Stefani’s L.A.M.B. Spring 2012 presentation during NYFW. The collection was beautiful, Indian-inspired and simply amazing! Stay tuned for more pics: )

Breast Cancer Awareness Month 2011 Part 2

In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gilt has partnered with actress and breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate on a sale filled with inspiring styles from head to toe. In honor of Breast Cancer Awareness Month, Gilt has partnered with actress and breast cancer survivor Christina Applegate on a sale filled with inspiring styles from head to toe. But what we’re most inspired by is Christina’s grace in not only beating the disease herself, but using her enormous star power to help other women get educated about the disease. Through her foundation, Right Action for Women, the “Up All Night” star provides information on early screening and detection, treatment options, and empowerment for those afflicted.

Applegate tells Gilt, “The reason I started Right Action for Women was to get the word out that this doesn’t just happen to women who are over 55…I was 36 years old when I was diagnosed with breast cancer. The reason that I was able to beat it was by early detection and that was by the smarts of my doctor, who said, ‘Mammograms are not for you; we’re going to do an MRI.’ An MRI can find breast cancer many years before a mammogram can. That’s something that I learned, and that I didn’t know about until I found out in my own life.” And the actress reminds that you can take matters into your hands—literally. “Early detection is key. Breast health is key. It’s to know your body, to be able to do self-examinations, to talk to your doctor if you know that you have a history in your family on either side,” she explains.

“I remember that when my mother was going through cancer, she always said to me, ‘Cancer is a word, not a sentence,’ Applegate tells Gilt. “And I know that there are women who come to this at different stages of cancer, but if we can wrap our heads around the idea that it’s not who you are—you are not cancer, and cancer does not own you; it’s a word and not a sentence—you can start there in your fight, and take your power back. Educate yourself. And try everything—from Eastern to Western medicine, everything you can—to take control back.”

Learn more at http://www.rightactionforwomen.org/ and shop Christina’s inspired sale beginning October 12 at noon ET on http://www.gilt.com.

Prada’s New “Tricks” To Hang On Your Bag

Prada‘s latest Gifts look book just landed on my desk and it has proven to be a gift in and of itself. As always, there’s a nice, pretty selection of small leather goods (wallets, iPad cases, etc.), but what we really want for Christmas is one of these little fellas. They’re called “tricks”–I’m not sure why–but they are certainly tricked out. They’re collectable trinkets to hook on the straps of your Prada bags. Because when you can afford a Prada bag, why not clip a $150 (this is an estimated price) “trick” onto it, right?

All the bears are clad in wild, rockstar-esque outfits including metallic crop tops, sunglasses, crazy hair, guitars and even jewel-encrusted boobs. They all even have names! And I’m pretty sure at least some of them are allusions to famous musicians. For example, Trick Zaza is totally supposed to be Lady Gaga. These little guys are Prada, so they may be pricey, but it’s fashion with a sense of humor–at its best. See them all below. LOVE!!

Miss Piggy for MAC – November 2011

I am NOT missing this collabo!!! I LOVE MISS PIGGY!!  To build up buzz for the upcoming Muppets movie releasing on November 23rd, Miss Piggy and MAC Cosmetics has teamed up to create a limited edition makeup collection. How awesome is Miss Piggy’s makeover by MAC? The collection is scheduled to release on November 14th. I am super excited 🙂 !!

H&M’s Fall 2011 Conscious Collection Is Now Available

For its second season, H&M’s Conscious Collection goes ladylike and bold with eco-minded separates in decidedly nongranola styles. The 24-piece capsule features a grown-up selection of fitted dresses, midi skirts, pleated trousers, and embellished sweaters in moody floral prints and sustainable materials like organic cotton or recycled wool.

Priced from $15 to $99, not only is the collection ultra-affordable, but it’s also super on point for Fall 2011: jackets are sharp cut, blouses are Victorian tinged, and skirts are slim and made from lace. The collection is available in select H&M stores now, but preview the entire selection here — plus see photos from the campaign featuring Frida Gustavsson and Caroline Brasch Nielsen.

EXCLUSIVE: Giambattista Valli for Macy’s, the Entire Collection

Macy’s previewed the latest installment in their designer collaboration series last night at a private space in the Meatpacking district. Next up, as you know, is Giambattista Valli, whose fun over-the-top flirty Paris show this season was attended by brand devotees like Inès de La Fressange, Lee Radziwill and Olivia Palermo. Valli’s mod multi-textured color-blocked shifts have a fashionista following for good reason, so we were excited to see what his lower priced line for Macy’s contemporary Impulse line would look like.

Valli is all about cocktail dresses, so there were plenty of those–our favorite was the black shift with leopard blocks and a bold red stripe that recalls his spring 2011 collection. The all-over leopard pieces–a chic day coat and matching tuxedo pants–should fly off the shelves, too. It’s a relatively small collection, just 17 pieces compared with Karl Lagerfeld’s 45 piece collection for the retailer, but there are plenty of perfect party frocks, skirts embellished with petals, and cute sequined tees to outfit you for the holiday season.

Valli is the fourth designer to collaborate with Macy’s for their contemporary line, “impulse.” He follows Matthew Williamson, Kinder Aggugini, and most recently, Karl Lagerfeld. “This capsule reflects my enduring loves, but is really a celebration of my biggest inspiration of all ‐ the energy and vitality of women themselves,” Valli said in a release. “I love dressing them for all their happiest moments, making them feel as special as possible. This collection is a passport into my world and a chance to experience the passion and romance of my house and Paris itself.” The collection is priced between $50 and $150 and will be available in 225 Macy’s stores nationwide and macys.com/impulse on October 26. LOVE IT ALL !! Anything leopard and hot pink has my name written all over it. 😉 What’s your fav piece?
