Barneys New York and Lady Gaga are two of my favorite things, so this collabo is so exciting to me!!!! Barneys announced today their Holiday 2011 campaign, GAGA’S WORKSHOP, bringing together renowned creative talents including artists: Eli Sudbrack and Christophe Hamaide Pierson of Assume Vivid Astro Focus (AVAF), and Mugler Creative Director and Lady Gaga Fashion Director, Nicola Formichetti, to create Lady Gaga’s interpretation of the iconic Santa’s Workshop.

“For the first time ever, Barneys New York will convert an entire floor of its Madison Avenue flagship in New York City into a dedicated space for the holiday initiative. Starting in mid-November, GAGA’S WORKSHOP will be brought to life throughout the fifth floor of the Men’s Store at the Madison Avenue flagship, and will also be supported in the store’s iconic Madison Avenue windows.

Barneys New York has worked closely with Lady Gaga under the creative direction of Nicola Formichetti to design a range of exclusive, limited-edition, small gift items, which will be available for a limited time only at GAGA’S WORKSHOP. In addition to GAGA’S WORKSHOP in New York, a selection of items from the collection will also be available at Barneys New York locations nationwide and online at Barneys.com. Barneys New York will donate 25% of sales from all items featured in GAGA’S WORKSHOP to a charity of Lady Gaga’s choice in honor of this special program and in the spirit of the holiday season.”

GAGA’S WORKSHOP will go live digitally on a custom-created section of Barneys.com, and will be launched via The Window, Barneys New York’s luxury content site. Can’t wait!!!

Lady Gaga, Karl Lagerfeld and Blake Lively-Designed Uniqlo T-Shirts, All Benefiting the Japanese Red Cross

Lady Gaga

Fashion has been generous and compassionate towards Japan in wake of the country’s recent disasters, but no company so much as Uniqlo, whose chairman and CEO donated $12 million of his own money to relief efforts. In addition to millions of dollars more in clothes and funds that the company donated, it’s now teaming up with an A-list group of designers and celebs to do the now-ubiquitous T-shirt design collaboration.

According to a release sent out by the retailer, ten designers and celebs created t-shirts, with proceeds benefiting the Japanese Red Cross. The high profile celebs include Lady Gaga, Karl Lagerfeld, Gwyneth Paltrow, Nicole Kidman, Alber Elbaz, Blake Lively, Charlize Theron, Cyndi Lauper, Victoria Beckham, and Orlando Bloom.

The shirts will retail for $19.90 and are available starting June 25. We’re partial to Alber’s hearts, Gaga’s characters, and Karl’s wash of color.

Lady Gaga Has 3 Heads On The Cover Of V Magazine

If you haven’t heard, V is all about G—not only is Lady Gaga once again on the magazine’s V71 cover, her inaugural two page column rolls out in the same issue. The singer stars as a three-headed musical hydra for “The Asian Issue,” (available to download in Chinese!) in a shoot snapped by Inez van Lamsweerde and Vinoodh Matadin and styled by, who else, Nicola Formichetti. The accompanying spread has Gaga once again changing up her look, this time channeling sort of a Harajuku Girl Dominatrix who stumbled into a face-painting group in summer camp. Also included is an interview by Sir Elton John, in which the songstress says, “My dad’s a whiskey mouth like me, so we don’t argue much about my recreational life: boozing and recording.” When Elton asks her what the most spectacular thing she’s ever seen when looking into an audience, she answers with alacrity—”Myself. It’s like a magnificent disco ball, with twenty thousand tiny mirrors reflecting back at me….I see myself through my fans. I feel God through their love.” Apparently, she’s also really into Edith Piaf and…Gregorian chanting.

Check out her new fan artwork above her column, or check out the rest of the entries from the “Drawn This Way” competition at the V Offices at 11 Mercer Street (near Howard Street). To celebrate the issue, V is also selling a limited hard cover edition and T-shirt here.
