Starring Missoni heiress Margherita Missoni, the Missoni for Target collaboration is the most exciting one yet, and I’ve got the leaked images from the ’60s-themed TV spot. The shift dress and blouse feel a little like the ric-rac trim section of a fabric store (and the men’s scarf has a sort of “Men’s High School Choir Member” feel)… but I’m loving the luggage and the zigzagged men’s sweater. The line will be available from September 13 to October 22 at Target stores.
Rough Hue: Fall 2011 Color Trends
It’s hard not to think color when the world is coming up in full bloom, so why wait for autumn to try out fall’s juiciest color trends? This February, I was thrilled to see that eye-popping, saturated hues weren’t being fazed by the gray winter skies. If anything, dreary days only made the bottle greens, pinky fuchsias, and sunny marigolds all the more necessary. Check out the eight fall 2011 color trends that got my (Yves Klein) blue ribbon this season!
Fire-Engine Red—This season’s red was bright and cheerful, unlike last season’s oxblood trend. I love a simple silhouette that tempers the fiery hue.

Lemon Yellow—Less Easter-y than the pale yellows I’ve spotted in the past, spring 2011’s lemon yellows were spotted on flowing-but-sporty skirts and tailored jackets.

Champagne—There were plenty of glittering nude gowns, but my favorite champagne looks included gleaming silk skirts and gauzy separates.

Summer Manicure Inspiration
While it’s not officially summer on the calendar for a few weeks yet, mentally we’re in summer mode. It’s in the 80s here in NYC and everyone is in sandals and sundresses–which means it’s time to ditch the greige nails. I’ve searched high and low for manicure inspiration for the summer, and found some amazing picks. Which one will you be trying ? 😉

OK, OK, we know a lot of you love yellow. We’ll begrudgingly admit this sunny yellow mani from Rimmel makes us smile.
The nails on Prabal Gurung’s spring runway featured Sally Hansen’s Without a Stitch and a strip of the rosey coral Casting Call. Perfect neutral with a twist.
Traditional French manicures are yawn-inducing. These juicy colored French manis pop out. It’s the color-blocking trend for those of you too nervous to try it head to toe.
No one does nail art like the Japanese. These nautical nails are a perfect homage to Fleet Week, and just a wee bit silly.
How cute are these aqua polka dots going to look with your vintage-inspired maillot? Answer: very cute.
These look like bubbles, or fish scales, or a delicious, fizzy, blue drink.
In honor of Lady Gaga taking over every media outlet, billboard, magazine, bus stop, and talk show, here’s one of her recent manis. Maybe not a traditional pretty summer mani, but it will definitely get you noticed.
Mimosa is getting all the attention in Chanel’s summer collection, but we’re a sucker for bubble gum pink–check out Morning Rose.
Can’t get your hands on a Prada dress? Get your hands on a banana mani instead.
Old Navy’s Gay Pride T-Shirts Go on Sale This Wednesday!!
Old Navy, taking a cue from…oh wait, NO OTHER MAJOR RETAILER EVER, is launching a line of rainbow-themed Pride shirts next Monday. Four designs will be available, sized for men, women and babies. And Old Navy will donate 10% of the proceeds to the It Gets Better Project(aka the source of all those YouTube videos that make you bawl your eyes out).
While several high-end designers (like Kenneth Cole and Marc Jacobs) have come out with limited-edition fund-raising tees and apparel in support of marriage equality, and perpetually edgy/skeevy American Apparel has that “Legalize Gay” shirt, Old Navy’s move seems especially ballsy to me. This is major, major chain, putting the idea and emblem of gay rights right in front of teens who probably attend schools that won’t allow gay students to attend prom together, or who will get sent home for wearing such a “disruptive” shirt in the first place. In other words, AWESOME.
They’ll be priced at $7.50-$14.50. What do you think? Cute? 😉

Must-Have Beauty Products for Your Memorial Day Beach Bag
It’s almost Memorial Day weekend, the official kick-off to summer and beach season. Are you and your adorable new beach bag fully stocked and prepared for any event? If not, I’m here to help. 🙂
Here are my picks for the must-have items (most new, some tried-and-true) that should find a place in your tote before you hit the sun and sand. (Need a tote? I love this stupidly expensive yet ridiculously cute Jil Sander silk twill style with a detachable pink strap.) Isn’t it to die for? 😉
Neutrogena Wet Skin Sunblock Spray SPF 85: New for the brand this year, it’s a chemical (vs. physical) sunscreen that somehow magically penetrates through moisture on your wet skin to cover and protect. . $10.99
Maybelline Volum’ Express One by One Waterproof Mascara: A waterproof mascara that gives you really full lashes without gimmicks. And it’s super-affordable, for when you accidentally dump out your bag and it gets buried in the sand and is lost forever. $5.49
Tocca Sunscreen Towelettes SPF 30: Whether you need a touch-up, or want to quickly cover your face and neck, these are super convenient. And no mess! $28 for 8 wipes
Lanolips Lip Ointment SPF 15: The Aussies know sheep (the source of lanolin) and suncare. So I was excited to try Lanolips, a lanolin-based lip ointment that is launching here in the US. They come in a range of soft colors and pack an SPF 15. Best of all? This thicker ointment stays put and isn’t sticky.
Paul MItchell Awapuhi Wild Ginger Texturizing Sea Spray: Yes, Bumble and Bumble makes the gold standard in sea spray, but this new offering from Paul Mitchell is a great alternative. Yummy smell and perfect tousled hair. $16.99
Skyn Iceland Glacial Cleansing Cloths: Have you ever been to the beach, packed up, got in the car and realized your face is a sticky disaster? These cloths are cooling, cleansing, and contain ingredients that calm inflammation and irritation. And again–no mess! $15 for 30 cloths
Tata Harper Hydrating Floral Essence: After sunscreen, wind, sand, and sun are done with your skin, it can be a dry, irritated disaster. We are addicted to Tata Harper’s spray, which provides a light layer of cooling moisture and smells so good that I want to bathe in it. $65
Check Out the Artfully Clashed Fall 2011 ASOS Collection
ASOS was all femme, all the time for its Spring 2011 in-house collection, but for Fall the collection can be summed up in three words: “Color. Coats. Clashing.” Inspired by British shores and the Americas, the goods feature white-soled cobalt oxfords, a textural green-neon miniskirt, and a mustard pleated dress.

OPI Launches Nice Stems!, Glam Slam! England & Texture Coat
OPI has two collections launching next month and a top coat coming in July! Nice Stems! and Serena Williams’ Glam Slam! England launches in June and Nicole by OPI’s Texture Coat launches in July, can’t wait to try them all!
First up, Nice Stems! (pictured) features new nail lacquers in shades of pink! We all love pink for the summer right? The shade’s names were based on their floral inspirations, which range from pale, frosty pink to rich fuchsia. Shades include: I Lily Love You ( light pink sparkle), Come to Poppy (shimmering coral-pink), Be a Dahlia Won’t You? (fuchsia) and Play the Peonies (soft-pink).
Next is Serena Williams’ third of four Glam Slam! collections, made in honor of the upcoming Wimbledon tournament. Glam Slam! England features two duo-packs filled with sparkle. The first Lacquer set includes Your Royal Shine-ness (metallic silver shade), paired with Servin’ Up Sparkle (silver glitter). The second Lacquer set also features Servin’ Up Sparkle, along with Grape…Set…Match (metallic purple).
Lastly is Nicole by OPI Texture Coat, a line of graffiti-style nail art products inspired by OPI’s bestselling Shatter. Available in six shades – Gold, Silver, Red, White, Turquoise and Black. I’m a fan of Shatter so I’m really excited about Texture Coat! To use this product, start with Base Coat Plus, followed by two coats of any Nicole by OPI nail lacquer. Let the lacquer dry completely before applying Texture Coat. Complete the manicure with Top Coat Plus for a high-shine finish. Texture Coat will be available July 2011 for $7.99 each.
