Opening Ceremony Resort 2012

The first Resort collection from Opening Ceremony is a windswept mix of botanic prints and easy, music-festival-ready silhouettes. Look for lots of breezy ’60s and ’70s shapes — mod dresses, flowing palazzo pants, tiered halter tops, and wildflower skirts — all in a palette of blood orange, acid yellow and cobalt blue. Tim Barber shot the lookbook and Camille Rowe models.

Helena Bonham Carter Is Sick of Marc Jacobs

Another image from Helena Bonham Carter’s Jeurgen Teller-shot Marc Jacobs campaign has leaked. The first image from the forthcoming campaign to leak was quirky cute–this one is more quirky ugly. The polka dots from Jacobs’ fall collection seem to have infected the 45-year-old actress–she’s got spots on her face and hands, she’s sticking her tongue out (not in a playful way), and holding her stomach as if she’s ill. If anyone can pull this off it’s HBC. But still, would this image make you buy those clothes? I don’t know about that. Don’t get me wrong I LOVE MARC JACOBS but this ad doesn’t do it justice.

H&M x UNICEF All for Children

I love the cute kid’s styles offered at H&M. I don’t have kids of my own just yet but I can’t wait to put them in all these cute little clothes whenever I do. 😉

H&M announced their support for UNICEF/All for Children initiative with a special collection of fashionable clothes for kids. Seriously the collection looks so good, I wish I can fit into the kids clothes! The collection will be available in 160 stores worldwide and also on-line, 25% of all sales from the All for Children collection will go directly to support UNICEF’s projects to promote children’s rights to education and protection among vulnerable communities

For girls there are dresses, skirts, shorts and gilets, with floral prints, bow-tie decorations and stripe trimmings, all in autumnal colors of nude, mole and coral. For boys, there are check shirts, sweat-pants and hoodies, cord blazers and the essential parka. For more information about All for Children, please visit www.hm.com/allforchildren.

Target announces two new accessories collaboration this morning, Albertus Swanepoel for Target Hat Collection and Dana Kellin for Target Jewelry Collection. Both collections will be available for a limited-time beginning October 30, 2011 at most Target stores and Target.com.

Albertus Swanepoel for Target features 14 colorful women’s hats, each priced at $19.99. “I’ve enjoyed partnering with Target and translating my hand-crafted designs into a more affordable line,” said Albertus Swanepoel. “The collection is inspired by my South African heritage and features seasonal colors, leopard print and an array of fashionable trims.”

Dana Kellin for Target ranges in price from $9.99 to $49.99 and includes an assortment of delicate necklaces and earrings. “My collection for Target mirrors my distinctive wire-wrapping technique that is seen in my handcrafted jewelry,” said Dana Kellin. “By partnering with Target, I’m able to bring my jewelry to a much wider audience, while maintaining the quality of my designs.”

OOOOOHHHHH I can’t wait to see how Albertus Swanepoel’s collection turns out!

TREND:15 Stellar Friendship Bracelets For You And All Your BFFs

Proenza Schouler Bracelet 7, $150, available at Opening Ceremony.

While this island can often feel more like a zoo than a summer camp, we sometimes like to reminisce about a simpler time where the season’s It Hue was determined by which color-war team you were on, and a few pieces of rope tied on your wrist symbolized a lifelong friendship. We may have too many obligations (like, say, rent and credit-card bills) to turn back the clocks and head to greener pastures, but nothing’s stopping us from bringing back our favorite memory-lane accessory—the friendship bracelet. Whether you’ve still got the same BFF or that title’s been changed a few times, we’ve enlisted the help of NYC’s resident men’s style savant, Jace Lipstein, better known as the Grungy Gentleman, to scope out the coolest friendship bracelets for your current male and female besties. Naturally, Jace flocks with a fashionable bunch (just check out his Twitter), with his role as Men’s Fashion Director at Singer22, his new fashion house, SoCreo, and a design collection for Dickies. From ethnic to athletic, and braided to beaded styles, Grungy Gentleman’s 15 picks for friendship bracelets are worthy of being gifted and traded between any fashion summer camp for boys and girls.

Creepy Crawlies Go Lux In Japanese Jeweler Hirotaka’s Latest Collection

Perhaps more than any other sect of the fashion world, jewelry is divided into two camps: timeless luxury items and quirky, trendy pieces. The precious metals and gems of fine jewelry can appear stuffy and boring to the more eclectic-minded, while loyal followers of Tiffany & Co might turn up their noses at the wilder side of unpolished stones and poppy designs. It’s a sad tale, and never the ‘twain shall meet…until now! Thanks to Japanese fine jewelry line Hirotaka, polished materials take on whimsical new forms in the latest collection. The lookbook itself is as cool as the jewelry, covered in doodles by the designer himself, Hirotaka Inoue. The same cultish monsters and symbols jump out of the ink and into the motifs of the jewelry itself. Larger-than-life pendants resemble gilded slugs, and cartoonish lizards hang upside-down from a delicate chain. The collection also includes a fair share of simple gold bangles, and the evil-eye makes an appearance or two. If you’re turned off by gold, you’ve nothing to fear—Hirotaka uses a deep, brushed version that takes on an almost bronze hue in the right light, and though some of the pieces do have a blinged-out feel, they’re far from gaudy. The darkly comical necklaces, bracelets, and earrings breathe new, rarified air into a material that had grown tired and overly ubiquitous. So, go for the gold, and you’re sure to come out on top!

Giambattista Valli To Design for Macy’s

Macy’s designer collaboration line Impulse continues to give Target’s Go International line a run for its money. Giambattista Valli is the latest designer to pair up with the mass retailer, according to a report in WWD. Even though Macy’s won’t confirm WWD’s report (they “do not comment on speculation”), I. hear from a reliable source that Valli is up next.

Valli’s collection for Macy’s is said to launch in November, following Karl Lagerfeld’s, which hits stores in September. Valli is the fourth designer to partner with Macy’s for their Impulse line–Kinder Aggugini was first up in January, followed by Matthew Williamson‘s which launched in April.

Valli consistently churns out great collections that we covet but can’t afford, so I’m excited to see what the designer can produce at a much lower price point. He probably can’t put out anything like this but a girl can dream…

It’s more likely Valli could translate these looks to mass, and we’re really hoping he does.

Marc by Marc Jacobs Resort 2012

I ABSOLUTLY LOVE MARC JACOBS. CAN SEE MYSELF WEARING ALL THESE LOOKS.

Imagining a city girl headed down to Miami for Art Basel in December, Marc Jacobs served up three different versions of florals — “day floral,” “beach floral,” and “evening floral”; polka dots in many shapes and sizes; and lipstick red looks for her to pack alongside her ubiquitous spectacles. Otherwise notable for the Resort 2012 collection, Jacobs’s switch in his usual approach from separates to full looks.
