Neiman Marcus X Keds

There comes a point when you (and I) can’t bear to wear 5- or 6-inch heels for even a minute longer—even if they are wedges. For that point, Neiman Marcus has teamed up with Keds, the classic sneaker label, on a pair of leopard-fur kicks that balance comfort with a bit of style. They’ll be available at Neiman Marcus stores NOW! With New York fashion week around the corner, they’re an affordable ($100) investment—perfect to slip on for the trek home after a long day of dashing between Lincoln Center and Milk Studios. Also, they are very similar to my Alice + Olivia Keds that I just blogged a couple of days ago. Super cute !!

The collection will be available for purchase through Stussy.com, at Stussy chapter stores and at Mademeclothing.com. Below is the lookbook, let me know what you guys think… I LOVE the army green military shirt with leopard print collar: SUPER CUTE!

A Look at Ralph Lauren’s New Denim & Supply Collection

Wool-Blend Textured Turtleneck, $98

Ralph Lauren just launched a new, heritage-driven brand, Denim & Supply Ralph Lauren, today, inspiredby “found vintage pieces” styled in a “young, individualistic spirit.” According to the release, this first collection is based on three stories — Into the Wild, The Lodge, and The Wharf — and will retail between $39.50 and $298 with “specialty jeans” under $200 and “core jeans” under $100.

Giles Deacon for Nine West Is Now Available!

The nine-piece capsule line of shoes, bags, and jewelry that Giles Deacon did for Nine West has just hit online and select Nine West stores. The collection — which runs $26 to $149 — has a couple of black leather-and-suede strappy shoes more in line with Deacon’s fetishistic Fall 2011 collection, plus pieces featuring the bug-eyed creature Eek, which Deacon has placed sweaters and blouses in his previous collections. CUTE!!

ALICE + OLIVIA LEOPARD KEDS o_0

I am in love with these Alice + Olivia Keds that I have recently purchased on Gilt.com. So much so, that I purchased two!! They are comfy and leopard print you can’t go wrong. They look great with a cute summer dress or little cut off shorts. Gilt.com is sold out and so is Keds.com. So, if you want your own, you can still catch them at Bloomingdales . They are on sale for $46.20!!! Get them while they last 🙂

Can Selling Other Brands’ Stuff Save American Apparel?

According to WWD, American Apparel will now focus on selling third-party merchandise–the latest in the company’s long struggle to stay afloat.

In particular, the brand has plans to reinvigorate it’s accessories department–which currently only accounts for a small percentage of total sales–by scouting for new, autonomous labels to shill in-store. To that end, Dov Charney and chief business development officer Marty Staff will be visiting trade shows MAGIC and Project later this month (female vendors beware) to suss out what brands they might want to bring into the fold (and what brands are willing). Their footwear department, which the retailer has been steadily growing since launching a few years back, will also benefit from some new additions: According to sources in WWD, “American Apparel is in talks with several sneaker brands regarding potential collaborations.”

I’m not sure exactly what it means when the best way to save your brand means selling other people’s shit but it must be a strategy that works. Over the years, retailers like J. Crew, Madewell and Club Monaco have steadily taken on brands like Barbour, Minnetonka and Birkenstocks, to sell in their stores. Only time will tell if the strategy will work for American Apparel, or if the sagging retailer is beyond hope.

The saga continues.

New Macy’s Line Featuring “Rock Scarves”

Steven Tyler is enjoying his umpteenth resurgence as a pop culture commodity right now with his popular stint as a judge on American Idol. A long-time style icon, and still proving he has a good eye–he was an early adopter of the hair feather extension, after all–Steven Tyler is the inspiration for a new contemporary clothing line called Andrew Charles. The line will be exclusive to Macy’s, and will be sold in the store’s Impulse department.

Andrew Charles is the brain child of Andy Hilfiger, brother of Tommy (who isn’t involved in this endeavor). The Hilfigers are well-documented supporters of the music industry, and Andy told WWD, “I grew up on Aerosmith and Steven Tyler. I’ve always loved his music and his style.” Andy was involved in J.Lo‘s Sweetface line, so the blurring of music and fashion is familiar to him.

While Tyler isn’t directly involved in the design of the line, he’s contracted for a year as the face of the brand. And it’s going to be a family affair. Tyler’s daughter, Chelsea Tyler, will also be featured in the campaign (see her in two of the line’s looks, at right and below.) About 15% of the line is men’s, and Tyler is a direct influence on the style there. There will even be a line of scarves, called “Rock Scarf.”

The women’s collection continues the 70′s rock goddess vibe, citing Marianne Faithfull, Stevie Nicks and Anita Pallenberg as inspiration. This begs the question of whether a modern shopper will get these influences, but “gypsy, boho-chic,” as Hilfiger described it, is timeless, right? A Macy’s rep told WWD, “It’s a little bit of the older customer, and now the younger customer who knows [Steven Tyler] from American Idol.”

Eventually the line will branch out to other products, like handbags, jewelry, and the next logical extension, guitars and amps. Andrew Charles is also teaming up wth NYC club Dominion NY, for monthly music nights. Bringing an Andrew Charles hangtag gets you free admission into the club.

Are you ready to rock out with this collection? I love the looks so far.

Hello Kitty X Liberty London Will be Available Next Month!

Liberty of London‘s latest collab with none other than Hello Kitty- I LOVE!!!

Now that Liberty’s London department store has a new spa and beauty hall, they’ve chosen Hello Kitty’s adorable face to inject some cuteness into a range of cosmetics pouches and cases.

It’s almost disturbing how well her iconic face blends in with two of Liberty’s oldest fabric prints. The red, white and blue floral was created in 1933 and the blue one below, in which, if you look closely, Hello Kitty is playing various musical instruments, was originally produced in 1978.

According to Grazia, the limited edition Hello Kitty – Liberty Art Fabrics luxury product range will be available for two weeks exclusively at Liberty beginning September 26. They add that Liberty is supposedly planning to roll out new styles each year and according to Liberty’s Facebook page, the collab is set to launch worldwide in 2012. Just so you know, Liberty, if Hello Kitty’s face is on it, I’m buying it.
