THE HEP STAR STORE OPENING AT LAFORET, HARAJUKU

The Hep Star is the brainchild of the same design team which created the fashion label Suiren. While Suiren’s focus is high-end and avant garde, its younger, more playful sister brand Hep Star is intended for daily wear. The designers’ aim, according to their website, is to combine “basic wearable clothes, unique patterns, and highly mixable accessories” with “punk, pop, and military details”. The theme of the spring/summer 2011 is “cute cyber punk”, and includes easy-to-wear tunics and dresses – some in floral print – to be paired with leggings or frilly shorts.

While the Hep Star fashion line is intended to be “real”, the opening party on February 17th was out of this world. With the Hep Star making their La Foret debut along with 15+ other new shops, the place was packed with Tokyo’s beautiful, fashionable, and famous (check out Yone, Hello Jonte, and others below). Partygoers ate their way through a mountain of complimentary McDonalds cheeseburgers and the champagne flowed freely while gorgeous models styled in 80s punk-inspired make-up and big hair showed off the brand’s tunics, tees, and leggings.

Here’s all the info on the new shop:

ALICE TEMPERLY

Over the past five years, Target’s GO International designer collections have really enhanced our wardrobes without depleting our bank accounts. But the most coveted pieces from each collection have always flown off the shelves, and there are some dresses that we just couldn’t manage to get our hands on.

Luckily, Target has introduced the GO International Designer Collective, where they’ve given us a second chance to pick up dresses from past collaborations with Proenza Schouler, Zac Posen, Rodarte, Thakoon, and many more.

So here’s your second chance–the collection will be available on March 13th at Target.com and in store until April 10th or, as we’ve learned the hard way, until supplies last.

EXCLUSIVE SNEAK PEAL @ H&M FASHION AGAINST AIDS 2011

Yesterday I posted H&M‘s new Fashion Against AIDS campaign through illustrations, now here’s the full look at the products for the unisex collection. This new collection took a different direction from last season’s festive collection, what’s your thoughts on it?

The collection is scheduled launch on April 28th in H&M’s Divided department with 25% of sales donated to youth HIV/AIDS projects around the world.

“Women can work that boyfriend look and men are working with styling more than ever in the way they dress. The starting point is shape and detail, with sporty T-shirts, blouses and parkas that are there to be personalized: sleeves can be rolled up or zipped off, waists can be belted and garments totally adapted from one item into another. Comfort is a key factor and colors are naturals as well as pale pastels which means they can be worn by all. A draped nylon parka looks just right as it is, or its sleeves can be zipped off and its waist accentuated to turn it into a dress for girls. The oversized and asymmetric slogan T-shirts can be worn in so many ways, while the collection is full of the perfect track pants, tanks and shorts perfect for summer.”

KINDER AGGUGINI FOR IMPULSE AT MACYS

Macy’s announced a new fashion initiative collaboration with fashion designers to create a series of rotating collections for the retailer’s contemporary fashion “Impulse” department. For Spring 2011, Macy’s tapped London-based designer, Kinder Aggugini who has worked with fashion icons and design houses including John Galliano, Vivienne Westwood, Paul Smith, Calvin Klein, Costume National and Versace to create a capsule collection. The collection launching this month features rocker-chic aesthetic pieces priced from $40-$140, with specialty pieces selling up to $300. The line will feature jackets, knitwear, dresses and shorts. Key items will include tailored leather and bouclé jackets, soft cardigans, ultra feminine silk shorts and Kimono style dresses with Kinder’s signature touches.

UK BY FRENCH CONNECTION AT SEARS

Sears teamed up with British retailer French Connection to launch UK Style by French Connection, a new line of contemporary clothing and accessories for men, women and children.

In-store boutiques featuring UK Style for French Connection has arrived at 500 Sears stores and Sears.com  Following the launch, Sears will introduce swimwear, footwear, sunglasses, jewelry, and other accessories along with items for the home.

“The women’s collection offers floral leggings and striped tanks (from $9.90) along with patterned minis, sequined and animal-print shifts (starting at $29.90), designed to capture French Connection’s joie de vivre. Inspired by street and runway fashions in international capitals, the men’s collection offers dark-washed jeans ($24.90), button-down Oxford shirts ($24.90), and V-neck tees ($12.90).”

Wow. Loving those prices. I’ve always liked French Connection but felt it was overpriced so this has great potential. Now I won’t know where to go first when I visit the mall, MNG for JCPenney? UK Style at Sears? Oh, the options!

H&M FASHION AGAINST AIDS 2011 UNISEX COLLECTION

H&M announced this morning their new Fashion Against AIDS (FAA) campaign, this year the sporty unisex collection offers something for both women and men. This is the fourth year of H&M’s FAA initiative, which aims to promote safe sex and HIV/AIDS awareness both through the messages found in the collection and through the advocacy of the organisations which benefit from the sales. The collection is scheduled launch on April 28th in H&M’s Divided department with 25% of sales donated to youth HIV/AIDS projects around the world.

“We wanted to create a unisex collection with a sporty vibe. It felt really liberating to think of the cut, the shape and the fabric first before thinking of what gender it should be for. Key pieces are the slogan T-shirts as well as the sports style jacket with zip details, which can be worn in all sorts of ways. FAA is vital because it is still so crucial to make young people aware of HIV and AIDS,” says Ann-Sofie Johansson, Head of Design at H&M.

I love H&M and am very excited about all the amazing things they are doing to improve our environment and the community. I look forward to contributing my part and shopping this collection 🙂 How about you guy?
