Lauren Conrad’s New Line, Paper Crown: The Complete Look Book

After MTV dropped Lauren Conrad’s reality show for being “too high brow,” Conrad lost a lot of potential publicity for her forthcoming contemporary line, Paper Crown. The show was to follow the making of Paper Crown, a la The September Issue (not The Hills). I wondered what would become of Conrad’s Paper Crown without the help of MTV, but a fall 2011 landed in my inbox, so it looks like the collection will be in stores come fall.

The collection is sweet, just like Conrad, and I could picture her in every piece–which, considering her sizable fan base, is a very good thing. Judging from the look book, Conrad’s first attempt at a contemporary priced collection is a vast improvement from her lackluster collections for Kohl’s. It reminds me a little of Elizabeth and James only skewed younger. Paper Crown features on-trend basics like leather shorts, silk blouses in blush tones, slouchy blazers, tight cocktail dresses, tiered ruffled maxi dresses (a Conrad staple) and short, flouncy, belted dresses.

Lily Donaldson & Matthew Gray Gubler for ALDO Holiday 2011

Looks like ALDO tapped Criminal Minds’ Matthew Gray Gubler to pair up with Lily Donaldson for its Holiday 2011 ad campaign! Love the show so I’m happy to see him in an ad campaign. Once again the campaign was shot by Terry Richardson, featuring polka dots, stars (very much inspired by Dolce & Gabbana’s FW2011 collection), glitz & glamour, animal prints and small rabbits. LOVE!

Kidrobot for Swatch

Swatch has teamed up with Kidrobot to create a super cute collection of eight watches in the Gent model. Eight artists have contributed to the new collection, each with a characteristic design for a Gent and its accompanying 3-inch Dunny: Frank Kozik, Jeremyville, MAD, Tilt, Tara McPherson, SSUR, Gary Basmen and Joe Ledbetter. Which is your favorite? I can’t even choose, I love them all!

The Kidrobot for Swatch collection is currently available at Swatch stores either separately, in which case each model comes with its complementary Dunny, or as part of a special Kidrobot limited and numbered edition of 300 sets. Each Kidrobot Special Set (GZS48) is comprised of the eight Kidrobot watches in the collection, each watch in the set carries its limited edition number (001/300) and is presented in special packaging together with its corresponding Dunny. Eight of the Dunnys are 3 inches high, while Frank Kozik’s mustachio’d white Dunny comes in a special 20-inch high version.

TOKYO STREET FASHION TRENDS FOR FALL 2011

Tokyo is filled with fashion isnpiration! I travel there as much as I possible can to find all the latest looks and do some credit card damage by buying out all of the stores over there LOL. But seriously the fashion trends that I picked up on while watching this crowd were just obvious right away. The first trend – glasses with no lenses (They call them “Tsubasa Glasses”). They’ve been around for several years, of course, but the percentage of girls wearing them at this event was extremely high. The second trend that was everywhere were gray knee-high socks. You can see several variations of them in the pictures below. Not sure exactly where this very specific trend came from, but it’s hot hot hot and I love love love it 🙂

Pictures are better than any explanation, so go ahead and take a look below.

Although Japan is always ahead of the fashion race, they create a window for us to see what direction our trends will take in the following year. I have included a pic illustrating the trends that they will be having for Spring 2012. We can choose to use these trends and tweek them to fit our style for next years’ street runway 😉

The BOHO trend will continue and with a little western influence. Let’s see how this will translate to our up and coming looks. Take notes guys 🙂

Sarah Jessica Parker and Halston Part Ways

After joining Halston in January 2010 as the president and chief creative officer of Halston Heritage, Sarah Jessica Parker has reportedly parted ways with the brand. According to WWD, the two are currently working on terminating the agreement. Details are still under wraps, but Halston is said to be cash poor and could be sold again. Are you sad to see SJP leave the brand?

Pamela Love Reworks Her Pieces at Lower Price Points for Resort 2012

Resin Crystal Crescent Necklace in Bronze with Seafoam Resin

For her debut Resort collection, Pamela Love had a specific goal in mind. “This collection is about having fun with my earlier ideas and making them more affordable and wearable,” she explained. “I wanted Resort to have a similar aesthetic to my Classic and Spring 2011 collections, but with a different weight and texture. I felt like there was still evolution to be found in the pieces, to make them more light and whimsical.” Hence, many of the pieces — which include several shapes from her Spring 2011 and Fall 2011 collections — are made from lightweight resins rather than heavier crystals and metals, and will be available in October at a lower price point than her usual.
