The Fate of Amy Winehouse X Fred Perry

In addition to an unfinished album, Amy Winehouse also leaves behind the successful collection she designed for Fred Perry. Her collaboration with the British clothing brand began last year with a fall 2010 collection. Amy’s signature retro style is what inspired Fred Perry to approach her.

Richard Martin, Fred Perry’s marketing director told WWD last March, “Amy has a unique sense of style that reflects the brand’s own historical reference points.” It sounded like Amy was more involved with the design process than many celebrity designers. Martin also noted, “Amy gave crucial input on proportion, color and fit. The range clearly has Amy’s handwriting.”

Her spring 2011 collection launched in March and is currently no longer available on the Fred Perry website, but there are currently still two styles available on ASOS and a few things on eBay. While there hasn’t been any mention of another Fred Perry collection in the press as of late, there is a decent chance that we could be seeing another one, if not several. This past October, Amy told Harper’s Bazaar, “We’ve pretty much done like up to autumn/winter 2012, and I’m like, ‘Have we?’ Yeah!”

We reached out to Fred Perry for comment and were told the collection is “on hold until we speak with Amy’s family and management” and they are unable to comment on anything until then. If three more seasons have in fact been designed and if Amy’s unfinished third album is as likely to be released posthumously as multiple outlets are reporting, then we very likely haven’t seen the last of Amy’s designs. We hope there is more to come, as Amy seemed really proud and happy with the collections. In her interview with Bazaar, Polly Vernon asked Amy if she had an unfulfilled ambitions at that time, to which Amy responded, “Nope! If I died tomorrow, I would be a happy girl.”

KARDASHIANS FOR SEARS

The Kardashian Kollection will launch exclusively at 400 Sears stores, according to WWD. The juniors line of apparel, lingerie, jewelry, accessories and shoes will hit stores in August.

“Not only do they have locations nationwide, but we recognize that Sears will allow us to reach multigenerations of fans and people who are interested in fabulous clothing at affordable prices,” Khloe, 26, said.

According to Kourtney, 31, the sisters have already done a bit of market research. “We love Sears. There is a Sears right near our house,” she raved. “It’s such a great store that is part of America’s retail history.”

The Keeping Up With the Kardashians stars’ most recent retail venture, Kardashians by Bebe, will conclude with its Resort 2011 collection. I’m super excited 🙂 I am a huge fan!! Are you ???

Amy Winehouse’s Private Funeral Was Held This Morning

Amy Winehouse‘s family and friends—including Kelly Osbourne, who had her hair styled in a beehive after Winehouse’s iconic ‘do, and Mark Ronson—gathered at Edgewarebury Cemetery in north London this morning for a private funeral service for the departed singer. Her father Mitch Winehouse gave a eulogy before the service, one that closed with Carole King‘s “So Far Away.” Mourners reportedly gathered afterward at a local synagogue, before the singer was cremated and her family began to sit Shiva.

Winehouse’s untimely passing has spiked interest in revisiting her woefully small body of work; Back to Black is likely to re-enter album sales charts this week. Even still, Microsoft came under fire for encouraging followers of its UK PR Twitter account @tweetbox360 to remember the singer by downloading the album via Zune. Go get yours, I already got mine today 🙂

Amy Winehouse will always be remembered. She had an undeniable sound that no one can duplicate. She will truly be missed.

Alexander McQueen Leaves Most of His $26 Million Estate to Charity

Documents made public today reveal that Alexander McQueen left an estate worth just over 16 million pounds ($26 million) at the time of his death. The designer, who committed suicide in Feb. 2010, left most of his fortune to charities, but also set aside portions for his siblings, household staff, and the upkeep of his dogs.

Among the allotments: 250,000 pounds ($410,000) each to his three sisters and two brothers; 50,000 pounds ($82,000) each to his two housekeepers for their “long and faithful service,” his godson, and each of his nieces and nephews; and 50,000 pounds ($82,000) for the care of his dogs. He also donated 100,000 pounds ($164,000) each to two charities that help animals — the Battersea Dogs and Cats Home and Blue Cross sick animal center — and 100,000 pounds ($164,000) each to the London Buddhist Center and the Terrence Higgins Trust, the latter which promotes sexual health and safe sex practices.

The bulk (and remainder) of his estate was left to his Sarabande charity with the suggestion that some money be used for scholarships at Central St. Martin’s in London, of which he was a graduate.
