LVMH Rumored to Be Eyeing Alexander Wang

In the aftermath of the Alexander Wang for Dior rumorsVogue UK reports that LVMH may have been expressing interest in Wang for another reason, instead: “While no investment has been confirmed, or even properly discussed, it seems Wang’s burgeoning brand has caught the eye of LVMH — and rumors suggest that the designer could follow fellow New Yorker Marc Jacobs into the conglomerate’s luxury stable.” [Vogue UK]

Reebok Has to Refund $25 Million to Consumers

Well, this is interesting…and it’s about time. The Federal Trade Commission (FTC) has ordered Reebok to provide $25MM in refunds to consumers who bought their various toning shoe products,WWD reports.

According to a complaint filed by the FTC, Reebok claimed that their shoes can increase strength by 11-28% in your calves, legs, and butt muscles compared to exercising in regular old shoes. Except none of that is backed up by any actual science. Oops.

David Vladeck, the director of the FTC’s Bureau of Consumer Protection told WWD, “The FTC wants national advertisers to understand that they must exercise {Ed.note: Ha! Pun intended?} some responsibility and ensure that their claims for fitness gear are supported by sound science.”

If you’ve coughed up $60 to $100 for Reebok’s EasyTone walking shoes or flip flops, or their RunTone running shoes, you can get your hard-earned dollars back either directly from the FTC or through a court approved class-action lawsuit. Now you can take that money and put it towards a new bike or proper gym membership. 😉

TREND: Borrowed From the Boys

While pilfering from the guys is nothing new — the Fall 2011 runways of DKNY, Ralph Lauren, and Marc Jacobs were chock-full of menswear-inspired styles, from tuxes to tweed — I’ve taken the concept one step further and gathered up some of the coolest meant-for-men pieces around. In fact, these styles are so chic, it would be a crime to let the boys keep them to themselves; there’s a chartreuse Jil Sander “document holder” that would make the perfect oversized clutch, a slim-cut teal blazer that would look so chic over a floral dress, and much, much more. Check out the pics below 😉

Watch Behind-the-Scenes on Hailee Steinfeld’s Miu Miu Campaign Set, Captured by Bruce Weber

As part of Miu Miu’s Fall 2011 ad campaign — which shows Hailee Steinfeld lounging in grass, munching on pizza, and sitting on a railroad — Bruce Weber also captured the actress in motion for his new five-minute short film for the brand, “Portrait of Hailee.” See the ad images in motion in the video, and starting in October, MiuMiu.com will host an “animated web book” of images taken on the Miami set while the campaign was captured in May.

Watch: Abbey Lee In Pierre Balmain

Balmain–and its new diffusion line Pierre Balmain–is all about rock n’ roll. So who better to embody that sensibility than the awesomely rad, platinum-haired Abbey Lee, who in addition to being an A-list model, also fronts the band Our Mountain. Sigh. Could she be any cooler? (Answer: no)

Shot and by directed by Inez and Vinoodh in their signature black-and-white, the video follows Abbey Lee and her band–including boyfriend and the band’s front man Matthew Hutchinson–around Brooklyn and Manhattan as they set up for a gig and frolic around the city, while, yes, looking devastatingly cool, clad in Pierre Balmain.

After watching the sleek video, it’s possible I’m even more excited for the diffusion line to hit stores this coming spring. Now if only we could figure out a way to purchase Abbey Lee’s rock n’ roll lifestyle, too…

And it will include everything from graphic tees and zip-up hoodies to tutu skirts and ballet flats.
