Embellished Sweaters

This season, skip the ironic reindeer sweater and go for gorgeous instead. From safety-pinned snowflakes to sequined lightning bolts, these glammed-up knits toe the line between chic and cheeky — without sacrificing an ounce of style.

Try This Super Easy Holiday Lip Trick

This holiday-perfect style — spotted during Paris Fashion Week at the Fall 2011 Junko Shimada show — combines the sophistication of classic red with the playfulness of this year’s brights for a lip look that really pops. To replicate, use an angled brush to apply an orange-ish red just to the outer edge of lips, then gently fill in the center of lips with a vibrant fuchsia. Use a finger to gently blend the line outward. Keep the look chic by choosing lip colors of similar vibrancy and opaqueness, and be sure to leave the rest of the face minimal — a light sweep of shimmer across the eyes and a bit of mascara are all you need. See below for our picks to make this style yours, now. Love it!

Billionaire Girls Club – A First Look

Billionaire Girls Club - A First Look

A while ago Pharrell Williams announced that he was about to launch the Billionaire Girls Club line. After having founded the male collection, Billionaire Boys Club, in 2005 together with A Bathing Ape founder NIGO, it was only a matter of time before he launched this collection. Before offering a full season collection, they are releasing a few t-shirts and vests, which will be exclusively stocked in the BBC online store and at select retailers around the globe.

For now nothing exciting, but I’m definitely looking forward to check out the actual full collection.

Warm Up For Winter With Fur-Trimmed Booties

The season’s most perfect boot might just be one that’s lined in fur. Whether elegantly sleek like Manolo Blahnik’s mink version or tough and rugged like YSL’s beaver-cuff pair, one thing’s for sure: these boots exude just the right amount of cold-weather cool. See below 🙂

Iris Apfel Is Getting Her Own Makeup Collection for MAC

MAC’s Senior Vice President/Group Creative Director, James Gager, once said that MAC likes to collaborate with people who no one else would “ever think of using in a million years.” Exhibit A? Meet MAC’s new face, Iris Apfel.

Her line will debut on January 5, and follows closely on the heels of fellow fashion eccentric, Daphne Guinness‘ collection. It’s a full line, complete with five lipsticks (my fave is called Loudmouth Orange), lip pencils, and eye shadows like Howzat, a sparkly grey. It’s rounded out by mascara (gotta make your eyes pop through those glasses, right?), a peachy “beauty powder,” and three nail lacquers–a bright blue, bright fuchsia and a neutral.

AMAZING… can’t wait ! 😉

Sofia Coppola directs campaign for Marni’s H&M collection

Sofia Coppola directs campaign for Marni’s H&M collection

She’s an Oscar winning film writer. And one of Marc Jacobs’s muses. So it’s perhaps an understatement to say I’m pretty excited about seeing Sofia Coppola’s campaign video for Marni’s new collection for H&M. The high street retailer announced today that they’ve signed up Sofia to film the advertisment, which will run online and on TV, early next year.
“I enjoyed doing this film for the Marni at H&M collaboration. I think it’s great how they make fashion accessible and I wanted to show the fantasy fashion can bring,’ Sofia said of the shoot in Marrakech. ‘Consuela Castiglioni [the Marni Creative Director] seems really sincere and cares about what she does and I appreciate that.”

The campaign – which was shot in Morrocco – will no doubt showcase some of the best bits from the Marni for H&M line. The collection, which includes womenswear, menswear and accessories will hit 260 stores nationwide and online on 8 March 2012.

Thanks to the video teaser H&M released two weeks ago I know the collection will stay faithful to Marni’s classic traits – intense prints, a clever colour combination (how much do you love the way that sharp neon green and slubby brown go together), and wickedly bold jewellery.I’ve already got my eye on some silver court shoes and the plastic flower necklace and… oh, you get the picture.

“Collaborating with H&M has been an exciting challenge,’ said Consuelo Castiglioni, Marni’s Creative Director at the time. ‘I’m very proud of the result. Everything has the same level of  quality craft and attention to detail Marni is known for.’ And she approves of the Sofia connection, too. ‘I’m a big fan of her movies, in particular of her vision and aesthetic. It was fantastic that she worked on this project; her interpretation is remarkable and full of atmosphere.”
