Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2012 Plongé Bags

Miu Miu Spring/Summer 2012 Plongé Bags

In love with these Plongé Bags from the Spring/Summer 2012 collection! The structured bag is made in soft nappa plongé, and also available in the vitello shine version, with a “ruched thread” finish (a special hand-made stitching technique, obtained by means of threading in 5 thin cotton threads gathered to create distinctive draping). The Miu Miu Plongé comes in ten different colorways, from soft hues such as mughetto, opale and pervinca, to brighter colors such as peonia, ananas and fuxia. The bag includes a removable strap and cotton satin lining. Available in all Miu Miu stores and online at miumiu.com. The bags are so cute for Spring/Summer! The ad campaign is super cute also 😉

Pamela Love Autumn/Winter 2012 Lookbook

Pamela Love Autumn/Winter 2012 Lookbook
Photography: Skye Parrott

I LOVE Pamela Love jewelry! For Autumn/Winter 2012, Pamela Love was inspired by art deco and industrial elements of both the 1920s jazz age and modern graphic design. Love’s new collection has a more geometric focus featuring classic shapes like chevrons, sunbursts, and geometric curves. I like!

“I like to mix polar aesthetics to create balance, and using elements of the Art Deco period felt like a perfect fit. No other artistic movement seems so flawlessly vintage and peculiarly modern at the same time. After exploding in the 1920s & 1930s and then finding a place again in graphic design in the 1980s, the shapes and patterns seem both retro chic and futuristic to me. I wanted to mix elements inspired by modern architectural landmarks like the Chrysler Building and the Paramount Theatre with similarly geometric silhouettes found in ancient religious landmarks like Ziggurats and Mesopotamian terraces.”

You can shop Pamela Love at shopbop.com and net-a-porter.com.

Anna Dello Russo at H&M Accessories Collection

Anna Dello Russo at H&M Accessories Collection

Just when the collab world is lacking some news, H&M announces a special accessories collaboration with Fashion Director of Vogue Japan Anna Dello Russo. We all know how AdR is obsessed with fashion and H&M always puts out good stuff, so I’m sure this collab will be pretty amazing. From the preview it’s looking pretty exciting already! The collection features jewelry, sunglasses, shoes, bags and a trolley at H&M’s affordable price. Available from October 4, 2012 in around 140 H&M stores worldwide and online.

“I am excited by this collaboration: this is the first time H&M involves a Fashion Director in a special project. This is the sign of an important evolution in fashion, and I am both thrilled and humbled to be the one chosen to lead it. I wanted to create precious accessories that are impossible to find. As a stylist I know accessorization is essential: it is the personal touch to any outfit. With these pieces everybody can have fun, turning an ordinary day into a fantastic fashion day”, says Anna Dello Russo.

“It’s been extremely exciting to involve Anna Dello Russo in this project, something completely different from what we have done before. Anna has a fantastic eye and a strong taste, apart from being a veritable fashion icon. She has produced an extravagant range of accessories that will get H&M customers, and everyone in love with fashion, excited. The collection is a celebration of excess, fantasy and decoration” says Margareta van den Bosch, Creative Advisor at H&M.

Are you excited about the collaboration? Can’t wait to see the full collection!

Betsey Johnson Goes Bankrupt

The company that owns Betsey Johnson’s boutiques is bankrupt, and as a result most of the designer’s freestanding stores will close between May and July.

In a statement, the company said that it’s spent months “rigorously pursuing alternative restructuring arrangements to address Betsey Johnson LLC’s cash flow problems,” to no avail. “After exhausting our resources and possibilities, it became apparent that neither a restructuring arrangement with a new equity investor nor a sale of the business enterprise as a going concern outside of bankruptcy was to be forthcoming.”

Betsey Johnson LLC operates 63 of the designer’s eponymous boutiques in the United States, Canada, and England. An executive at the company told WWD that some 350 people will be out of work when the stores close, but executives at Steve Madden — which saved Betsey Johnson from collapse in 2010 when it bought Johnson’s $48.8 million debt — wouldn’t confirm how many people would be affected.

Johnson herself won’t lose her job. She’s staying with the company as creative director and will focus on the lower-priced Betsey Johnson label sold in Macy’s and other department stores. “I love the moderate price range,” Johnson said. “It is in sync with all the girls who are buying my clothes.” Mr. Madden said that the closure wouldn’t interrupt wholesale deliveries to stores that sell Betsey Johnson and that there would be no impact on ecommerce availability.

Johnson executives are arranging an auction to determine which company will handle Betsey Johnson LLC’s liquidation on May 8.
